みなさんこんばんは! I was very impressed by the cover of Guns'N'Roses - 'Welcome to the Jungle' on traditional Japanese instruments (しゃくはち and こと). After that class, I found myself looking for more covers of songs I know, and I found the video above, of Bad Apple. For anyone wondering, this is the original version: じゃまた

じゃまた! ばにら こんいちは、 Dressing up is a method of self expression, and although I am not brave enough for the most time, I really love it when I see someone going out of the ordinary or breaking the boundaries of what is 'normal' in the eyes of the society. When I first learned about Harajuku fashion, I was dazzled by the colorful and fun looking styles, and how different these styles were from the traditional Western looks. Harajuku is a district in Tokyo that is internationally known for its various colorful and unique fashion subcultures. There are many different styles, all of which are creative, fun, and extraordinary. The video below shows different looks that were popular among the followers of Harajuku trends in various years, and their origins. I was especially surprised by how much some of the styles were influenced by Western movements or time periods, (like the Punk Rock movement in the UK, or Marie Antoinette from France). Combination of different cultures can form really beautiful results. I believe I should add that one of my favorite styles out of the ones featured above is shironuri, where the face is painted in white. Shironuri artists can get really creative with their clothes and makeup, and the results are often fantastic. みのり (pictured below) is my favorite artist in this movement, and she always looks like a walking, live painting. In fact, I am thinking of making a separate post about her in the future. じゃまた!
ばにら こんいちは!
With the chapter test coming up soon, I wanted to post a calm and soothing song for this week. So here is オーダーメイド(Order Made) by RADWIMPS. The song sounds very innocent and child-like, and never fails to calm me down. (*^▽^) Lyrics can be found below:
